Perkin Elmer NexIon 2000P with PrepFAST IC

Our Perkin Elmer Nexion 2000P employs both collision cell (He) and dynamic reaction cell (reaction gas) modes to analyze nearly all elements from Sc to U with high precision. DRC mode offers users the ability to analyze those elements with known mass interferences (e.g., As, Sb, Fe, etc.) with high precision to very low concentrations (< 1 ppb (ug/L). Reported detection limits on this instrument range from 0.1 ppt (0.1 ng/L) to 1 ppb (ug/L) for most elements. Collision cell mode reduces poly atomic interferences by kinetic discrimination allowing for rapid determination of lighter transition metals with known poly atomic interferences such as 51V and 52Cr. The Nexion is coupled to a Perkin-Elmer/ESI PrepFAST IC audilutor and ion chromatography system. This system is capable of auto dilution from 2- 200x and eliminates the need to make multiple synthetic calibration standards. It also allow automatic dilution of high TDS samples and is capable of being programmed to dilute “on the fly” as needed. The IC system within the PrepFAST is designed to speciate environmentally sensitive metals such as As, Co and Cr in-line to the ICP-MS allowing for determination of specific species to sub part per billion levels in aqueous samples.

Perkin Elmer’s QID technology combined with triple cone configuration increases sensitivity by up to 5 fold over their older Elan series spectrometers and allows for determination of most elements below 1 ppb.

Perkin Elmer ELAN DRCe

Our Elan DRCe is coupled to a CETAC-Teledyne LSX 213 Nd-YAG laser for determination of trace elements in solid matricies. Solid samples can be analyzed directly using coupled LA-ICPMS. This system can be used in conjunction with ICP-MS in either standard or DRC mode to analyze a host of compositions.

Spot sizes down to 25 um can be analyzed. Lines rastering and surface analysis are possible under controlled conditions via the Digi-Laz software interface. Detection limits for many elements on the ICP-MS using the laser system are in the mid to high part per billion range although some elements can be detected at lower levels.
